About the Event
Buddhist Counselling presents a unique opportunity for a one-day urban meditation retreat with Venerable Khyentse. Originally from the UK, Khyentse is a senior Buddhist monk residing in India who has trained under Tibetan masters for over two decades. Following the success of his first-ever Australian retreat last year, this is his second program in Sydney.
Mind-training is a process for developing our optimum potential for altruistic and enlightened living. The Seven Steps are a tried and tested model for practically integrating mind-training in our daily lives.
This is ancient wisdom for the modern world. Based on a classic meditation teaching that the great Bengali Buddhist teacher Atisha brought to Tibet in the 11th century, the practice is ideal for anyone interested in developing tools for transforming adversity into the path to awakening calm, clarity and fulfilment.
In this one-day urban meditation retreat, Khyentse will guide us through the core methods to unlock deep happiness, meaningful connections and liberating wisdom.
As the Dalai Lama has encouraged, The essential message of the mind-training teaching is that if we want to see a better world, we should begin by improving our own mind. For me, the mind- training tradition stands as the heart of the Buddha’s message of peace. It teaches us how to regard others with the dignity and care that they deserve, and also how to transcend the limitations of conventional ego-grasping. In brief, it is a guideline for our own enlightenment, leading to enlightened conduct in our relationships with others.
